You’re probably aware of the new veteran’s memorial that’s been constructed on the SW lawn of the county court house in Hillsboro. While I don’t know all the details I do know that the VFW is involved and the project is partly being funded by the sale of paver bricks bearing the names and service information of veterans from Highland County. Typical information on existing bricks includes name, rank, branch of service, years of service, name of conflict served in (if applicable).
The cost of each brick is $50 and requires submitting a form to the Hillsboro VFW along with a check for the number of bricks desired. As I understand it, the VFW must order in batches of 100 bricks so it may be some time before those purchased are installed into the memorial.
I stopped by the County Building last week and picked up a form to scan and make available on this site. Just click on the thumbprint to enlarge it for printing.
