We ate, we drank, we made merry!

The 2nd Annual G3 Blues, Brews and Stews Winter Festival on February 22 was a total success. For most of the evening it was standing room only with a crowd hovering around 200. The Greenfield Eagles Lodge, who co-hosted the event, put together a great assortment of brews, Two Roasting Joes was on hand with a large assortment of locally roasted gourmet coffees, the Hannah Losey Scholarship Fund took care of everyone’s sweet tooth, we had a record-breaking 20 entries in the chili-stew cook off. In fact we had way too many crock pots

plugged in for the circuit breakers to handle the load. Next year we’ll have a 10kw generator out back to make sure the food is too hot to handle!

The blues part of the evening was provided by Dayton’s Back Talk Blues Band who is already chomping to be a part of next year’s BB&S.

On behalf of G3 I want to thank the Eagles, especially Diedra and Ted, for their generosity and for providing us an almost “turn-key” venue for our fund-raising event. We also want to give a big pat on the back to all those who came out and so generously supported our efforts. G3 earned a nice chunk of change to help carry out its mission of making Greenfield a better place to live. We also want to thank Spark Creative Artspace and its members for all they did and for which G3 and the Eagles will be donating a portion of the evening’s proceeds.

GG&S is over for 2014 but there’s much more on the way. Three Spoons is having a fundraiser for Spark on Fat Tuesday, March 4, G3 is working on sponsoring a community garden project of some sort, and in June will be hosting a Creek Festival along with a canoe, kayak, and tube float along Paint Creek. Look for Spark to get off the ground with several activities at the end of March. I’ll try to keep you updated in the events section of this blog. Greenfield is a happening place, the ball is rolling and it’s up to us all to keep it going!

  1. Thanks Larry Chapman and the 3G committee for allowing the Greenfield Eagles to be a part of this worthy event.

“People Helping People” is the Fraternal Order of Eagles motto, and we at your local Eagles Aerie enjoy it when we can help our community.

We welcome the opportunity to help again in the future.
