Some Reality About AOC’s Tax Plan

Old white men wearing dark suits and sporting locks of bright grey hair don’t like change. That’s why whippersnappers who are young, female, beautiful, intelligent, and can bust a move in the hallways of Congress, scare the shit out of them. Most specifically I’m talking about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a major rising star in today’s progressivism. Besides her joy of dancing the old folks don’t care much for her suggested reforms to the nation’s income tax system. What’s got their sphincters in a twist is the 70% income tax she wants to impose on the nation’s wealthiest. If one doesn’t go beyond the 70% figure it is easy for the wealth and power block to lure the average American into thinking the government is coming after their money. Quite the contrary is the case.

Sarah’s & Raj are Looking for Some Jobs

Rick Wilson’s book, Everything Trump Touches Dies, may be coming true for Sarah Sanders and Raj Shah, two of the people whose job it is to cover up Trump’s lies and lunacy. There are recent stories in the news feeds that both are looking for new jobs but are having difficulting finding them. They are damaged goods, tainted by selling their souls in service to one of our most corrupt and dishonest WH occupants.

According to RawStory, Sanders has changed from daily press briefings to monthly press briefings and Shah has removed the words,  White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary, from his social media accounts. Apparently, both have finally concluded that they are not needed in Trump World, a world in which Trump is his own head of press relations and public communications.

Earlier in December Sanders spoke about her legacy. She said she wished it to be one of being transparent and honest. Well, we all know that ship sailed long ago and it ain’t coming back.

So, Why Now Mitt? Where You been?

A major news item today regards the “scathing” op-ed Mitt Romney wrote for the Washington Post. While Romney is now calling Trump out, I have to wonder why he waited this long to do so?  Romney was

Now, let’s talk about this Secretary of State job.

a major target of Trump’s vitreal during the GOP campaign and the victim of a Trump prank when he thought he was being offered the Secretary of State position. Romney handily won the vacated seat of Warren Hatch and probably would have even if he had spoken out long before sewing up a seat in the Senate.

Senate seat now secure Romney is openly claiming Trump to not be up to the mantle of the job. Romney is critical of Trump’s not calling out to our better angels but instead, had given reign to our worst angels. “He [Trump] has failed to offer examples of honesty and integrity.”

In the arena of world affairs, Romney said this about Trump’s behavior on the world stage, “Trump’s words and actions have caused dismay around the world. In a 2016 Pew Research Center poll, 84 percent of people in Germany, Britain, France, Canada, and Sweden believed the American president would “do the right thing in world affairs.” One year later, that number had fallen to 16 percent.”

Gutless Little Yes Men

The Three Amigos; Pancho, El Trumpo, and Chico.

GOP Rep. Ryan Costello of Pennsylvania went on MSNBC recently and tore Donald Trump a new anal opening. He was especially critical of the government shutdown and Trump’s refusal to pass a spending bill. He also chastised Trump for bending to the will of far-right media personalities. There are at least two things wrong with Costello’s criticisms, first he won’t be a part of the incoming 116 Congress and secondly, for the past two years, his record of supporting Trump is 96%. Looks like he got real damned mad and real damned honest when he didn’t have worry about the Donald looking over his shoulder.

It’s Miller Time

Twenty-three months ago Trump began his first term with thirty high-level White House staff members. Today he’s down to ten and unfortunately, half of those include, Kellyanne Conway, Sarah Sanders, Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, and worst of all, Stephen Miller. I hold Miller more accountable than any other for the incarceration of over 15,000 immigrant children. If anyone pulls the strings of the Trump marionette it could be Miller.

Patton on Walls

My wife and I were recently talking about how much of an exposed border America has. In light of that, I saw this meme that is such a good visual illustration of how meaningless a Southern wall is. There also appears to be some evidence that more illegals cross the Canadian border than the Mexican. Regardless, America is a very porous nation and no fence is going to keep people out. Once again, walls don’t work, just ask the Chinese or the French. I know that Trump knows more than his generals but just bear in mind these words from General George S. Patton, “Fixed fortifications are monuments to man’s stupidity. If mountain ranges and oceans can be overcome, anything made by man can be overcome.”

The Cost of Living with Trump

According to CNBC  Trump’s tariff on steel and aluminum will add $1,800 to the cost of a Toyota Camry sedan, assembled in Kentucky. A similar cost would occur for a Tundra pickup truck and around $2,900 on a Sienna minivan. To some degree the same will happen to all automobile costs because so many materials and parts are imported.

Trump loves to brag about the economy and takes major credit for it. He mostly points to the rising stock market and falling unemployment rates. What he doesn’t mention is the stagnation of wages  for the working class, the shortage and rising cost of housing, the skyrocketing cost of education, the in-affordability of medical care, and the enormous tax breaks he’s given to the super wealthy.

The ball’s now in Trump’s court

One of the great coffee shop discussions these days has to be, what does Putin have on Trump? Is there a pee pee video? Are there videos of Trump with Russian prostitutes (and are they as good as Putin claims)? Does Trump owe Russia yuge sums of money for backing his European and Asian projects? Well yesterday, I read an article that claims we now know what Putin has on Trump and the answer is simple.

How about a little Russian History lesson?

On July 16, 2018 Donald Trump claimed that what Vladimir Putin says is more truthful than whatever is said by America’s entire intelligence community. He endorsed a leader, a nation, and an international viewpoint that no American president or government has ever endorsed. No American government has ever viewed Russia as an ally, a friend, a co-equal, or a friendly force in world politics. In fact, for the past 80 years America and Russia have been diametrically opposed, often at the threat of open military hostility.

Unlike Belgium, Norway, Holland and France, who were directly and almost immediately swallowed up by Hitler’s armies, the Soviet Union entered a 1939 non-aggression pact with Hitler that swung open the doors of Eastern Europe. The Soviets have to share some of the blame for the outbreak of WWII and total blame for the eventual invasion of their homeland by Hitler’s forces.

Calling All Moderates

I was thinking about the retirement of Associate Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy and what effect it could have on America’s future. Even though Kennedy was a conservative he often acted as the swing vote in a Court of four liberals and four conservatives. If Trump appoints a conservative the Court would five-four conservative and America’s resent could revert to America’s past along with its future being very uncertain.

A five-four Court could put the hopes of continued social and economic equality on hold for a generation, or more. So, the question is, how can a minority of Democrats in the US Senate protect a balance on the Court. The only viable answer is for the Senate to find the courage to only confirm a moderate or centrist nominee.

You take the high road, I’ll take the low road!

In the aftermath of several Trump staffers being harassed in public, including,  Sarah Sanders being 86ed from a small Virginia restaurant, California congresswoman Maxine Waters told a group of her supporters to challenge Trump’s administrative staff where ever they are encountered.

While it can certainly be argued that Waters should have remained on the high road, she didn’t. And if her pep rally words did anything they got Trump supporters all in a wedgie over incivility.  I find such to be humorous given that Donald Trump is a poster child for incivility. He even road on the Incivility Float during the 1982 Rose Parade.

They ain’t animals & walls ain’t an answer

Regarding Trump’s view of those wanting to come to America he seems to put them all into one big bowl and then plaster that bowl with a variety of labels. He likes calling them rapists, criminals, drug dealers, violent gang members, terrorists, animals, infestations of vermin or whatever demeaning term that should slither out of his forked tongue. . He does however, have a number of labels he likes to use. To Trump they are either rapists, criminals, drug dealers, terrorists, animals, or whatever  demeaning label that falls off his slithering forked tongue. There does seem and exception. Trump likes very white people, preferably those from the nation of Norway. He much prefers Norwegians over people from “shit hole” countries.

In pursuit of a more perfect union & other things

I took an afternoon nap, watched a little news, and found myself angry enough that I just have to hold a little American History class. This nation is not and has never been perfect. But our basic documents give us goals and a purpose to believe in. The Declaration of Independence addresses the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of liberty. It also speaks to all men being created equal. The main document, the US Constitution speaks in its Preamble the reasons we formed a government. It clearly states that one reason is to create a more perfect union. While we at times have made great progress with all these things, we have also failed miserably. Mixed in with all that is bright and shiny are some pretty damned dark and shameful events.

Yes America, They do Have Rights

Donald Trump cannot accept defeat. If he can’t get what he wants one way, he’ll try another. After getting his butt nipped with the child-parent separation nonsense he’s decided to go another direction. While being chauffeured to his Virginia golf resort he tweeted that illegal immigrants are not entitled to Constitutional protections and should be immediately be sent back over the border without a trial or any other legal protections. Trump, and I’m sure his minions in tow, believes the American legal system owes them nothing. Well, they are incorrect. Going back to James Madison, the Father of the Constitution, there have been numerous Supreme Court cases and reams of case-law supporting the idea that Constitutional protections apply to all in America, including those who are not citizens.

Damned the Union & Fuck Those Lead Pipes

On day one Trump walked into the WH accompanied by Steve Bannon and Steve Miller. Both are avowed members of the Alt-Right and both have the goal of systematically dismantling the US Government.

To help accomplish this Trump has rescinded about everything the Obama administration accomplished and severely weaken vital departments of the Federal government. The Federal government has been furthered weakened by those he has appointed to head up its departments and agencies:
