Bluegrass meets New Orleans Jazz

Back in May my wife and I spent an evening at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnati listing to The New Orleans Preservation Hall Jazz Band pair up with probably the nation’s best bluegrass group, The Del McCoury Band. One may not think the two belong together but this paring is a blatant example of just how much most forms of music share in common. American musical forms, in particular, traces its roots back to African rhythms and this is easily seen in the following YouTube performance of these two ensembles. They have been on tour with each other for the past year and if you get a chance, it’s worth the money. Great experience!
