I’m not going to pretend that I understand everything found at The U.S. Debt Clock but I do understand enough that it scares the bejesus out of me. Warning, this site contains material not suitable for the faint of heart.
I would suggest that the US Government do at least two things. First, roll back the unfunded Bush tax cuts at all levels. Increase both my tax rate and that of the super rich. Secondly, use the extra revenues for either reduction of the national debt or to stimulate the economy by rebuilding the infrastructure and/or investing in technological and scientific research and development. Okay, one more thing, revamp the existing tax code to make it simpler, more equitable, and much more difficult to avoid one’s fair tax burden. Wouldn’t hurt to tighten up a little on Medicare and Social Security eligibility (means testing) and the blank check we too often give the military.
