As reported in an earlier post the number of government jobs decreased by 14,000 in January. Since the recession began in 2008 there have been large decreases in government employment at many levels and the experts believe the trend will continue. If you are a small-government Tea Party type this may be welcomed news. However, since government jobs tend to be well-paying and stable this may not be good for the general economic health of the nation. Continued decline in government employment could contribute to the general decline in consumer spending and result in negatively effecting economic recovery.
