Back in the days when the Republican Party controlled the White House and both houses of Congress Warren Buffett was their go to guy. One GOP friend worked for a Buffett owned company and couldn’t be prouder, “The man is a genius, he’s gifted, he’s the ‘Oracle of Omaha,'” he would thunder. Then the unthinkable happened, Buffett tossed his checkbook into the Obama camp in 2008 and kept it there. Making matters worse, he openly stated favoring inheritance taxes, green energy, and upping the tax rates on invested income. Finally, his “say it ain’t so” moment came when he openly admitted the wealthy investment-class was paying less a tax rate than their employees and argued the rich should pay a higher rate. Find me a Republican who has a picture of Buffett over the mantle these days.
