White’s Meat & Deli, a Family Thing

For many years Jeff White served up great meat products at his shop in the rear of the Rocky Fork Truck Stop. When the RFTS recently changed hands Jeff decided to change location and expand his business. He purchased and renovated the former Garman Feed Store building in Bainbridge, and along with his son Jason, has opened up as White’s Meat & Deli.

I’ve bought meat from Jeff for years and he’s never failed to come through with exactly what I wanted and at a price that’s more than competitive. We recently ordered several Boston butts and beef brisket for a family reunion and again, total satisfaction.

Jeff learned the meat cutting business from both his father and my late great-uncle, Norman Inskeep. Inside the entry of his store he has had a mural painted showing his father, himself, and Jason standing behind an old fashion meat case. It is a great welcome to his place of business and conveys the message that this is not the new kid on the block.

In addition to normal cuts of beef, pork, and chicken White’s also carries a number of prepared salads, condiments, cold cuts, cheeses, bread, beverages and many picnic supplies. On our most recent visit we purchased some excellent sliced bacon and some potato and chicken salad that almost instantly disappeared after getting it home.

At the moment White’s is opened everyday but Sunday and is located on US Route 50 at the west edge of Bainbridge, next to the Timbers Restaurant. The phone number is 740-634-2806.
